In episode 13 of Common Sense Civics and Citizenship, I discuss the fun of getting to know our fellow Americans. Today I looked up some information on South Dakota, a state on my bucket list. At first, I was only interested in seeing Mt. Rushmore but there is so much more to see! South Dakota has more shoreline than Florida. Who knew?? As a child, I memorized their state capital as “Pierre,” but today I learned to drop the french pronunciation and embrace the South Dakota way of saying their state capital. They pronounce it “peer.” 🙂 From the Badlands to the prairies… I think a road trip is in order 🙂
