Everybody’s talking about 2020’s misery. Let’s look ahead. How well are you prepared for 2021? With 2020 almost in the rear view mirror, I think we can all agree. After a rough ride, Americans have a strong need to prepare, focus, and resolve to have a better year in 2021.
Prior preparation prevents poor performance. We’re on it!
Preparation
Do you have a few days of essentials incase of an emergency? What if you get sick suddenly or there is civil unrest (again)? The stores suddenly, without warning, closed at 6pm one night last summer over threats of unrest. I keep a few essentials-medicine, food, water, etc. on hand. Maybe you don’t have a week’s worth, but a couple of days’ worth is a good start. Oh, and have a few batteries and a flashlight on hand. Bonus points for an emergency radio and phone charger.
Illness blind-sided us last year. Not this year. Common Sense citizens talk to their physicians and get a second opinion. We read and listen to a variety of sources, not the convenient usuals. We follow professionals who themselves do what they ask us to do. Have you cultivated trusted relationships and sources of information about viruses? Are you less fearful than you were 9 months ago?
Prepare to have a better year. Our Founders prepared for the worst. That’s why they could endure the worst. They prepared mentally by cultivating an idea of what freedom is like and writing it down. They believed that self-government begins with governing oneself. One indivisible nation with liberty and justice for all began by recognizing there is Higher Power and it wasn’t them. How are you preparing to have a better year?
Focus
Many of you lost dear loved ones. Tragic loss affects focus which we all will need in 2021. Resolve to deal with your grief. There are professional resources to help you. Decide to find them. Have acceptance as a goal, even though that goal seems to be a million miles away. You can’t guard your liberty if grief has completely overtaken you.
What “rabbits” are you chasing? What distracts you from doing the work you know you are called to do? What “sets you off?” How will you avoid these pesky triggers so you can stay on track each day? We can’t remain a free people if we are chasing “rabbits” and other distractions.
Resolve
We are a free-born people. Resolve to be tough- minded when it come to liberty. You can’t keep what you don’t have. Therefore, as a nation, we must decide that freedom is worth whatever it takes to keep it. How willing are you to maintain your freedom in 2021?
