How are you doing this week, as we continue to cope with a new, but hopefully temporary “normal?” It’s an interesting trip we’re on as a nation… especially after all of our personal and business travel plans have been cancelled for now.
We are beginning to look beyond COVID-19, to what life will look like when the shelter in place orders have ceased, and what the lasting effects might be. The Common Sense Civics and Citizenship articles and a short video this week have dealt with the pandemic from the perspective of pondering life after the pandemic. You can find the video here.
As for me, I’ve got a case of good ol’ cabin fever today. This, after having the tornado sirens go off at 10:30 last night. Nothing like a tornado warning when you’re half asleep and in the midst of a pandemic, right? The tornado was full steam ahead in a path toward our neighborhood. It knocked a few telephone polls out of the way and then passed over our area. No casualties reported. That was a wonderful end to a cliff hanger. Now I remind myself… inhale, exhale. This, too, shall pass. I think many of us are “on edge” lately.
A hearty welcome to all of our new subscribers! We’re glad you’re here! Thank you for subscribing to the weekly updates. Each week I will include the latest articles I have written. An occasional personal note from me will also arrive in the weekly email. The advantage of being a subscriber is the ability to see Common Sense Civics and Citizenship without the comments that usually appear with social media posts. Seeing things in a new way without comment can provide additional insights. It’s like watching C-SPAN. They just run the cameras with no comment. Viewing national events in this way gives you an opportunity to form your own opinions. Learning is not cluttered with distractions. And so it is with reading the weekly updates we send. I hope you enjoy them.
Thank you for being an American who is interested in a Common Sense approach to Civics and Citizenship.
For Liberty,
Candace Donnelly
