Recently, a relatively new American citizen, whose agenda includes abolishing prisons and defunding the police, won the nomination for New York City mayor. In California, there is a mayor, via social media, allegedly calling upon criminal gang members to stand up to ICE.
Apply the Principles of Self-Government
We the People get the government we vote for. Elections have consequences. If we understand this, we will also understand the divisiveness in our country. We may not like the person our city, state, or country elects, but the American way is to accept those results and move forward by working to make our country better through an understanding of our founding documents. Next, we apply these principles of self-government first to our lives, then work toward applying them in our city, state, and country. The next step is to vote consistently and constitutionally.
Act Patriotically
Following this critical step of voting, we then act patriotically. You may not feel patriotic. Some factions openly express their disdain for our country, but have you noticed they don’t move to another country? These factions spend time getting your attention so you will join them. The goal is to divide the country and create something new out of America, in their own words.
We are one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Any other derivative of this nation would be America in name only and would soon perish.
Live with Purpose
Resist the temptation to join in the malaise. Our forefathers gave us the charge to be eternally vigilant over the country they gave us. To do so is to live with purpose. Any other call on a citizen’s life is lukewarm and depressing. It is indifference, or worse, a life of anger and hate.
Remember, our strength is in our unity. Now is the time to patriotically shape our nation’s future by securing the blessings of liberty for ourselves and our posterity.
