The aftermath of Hurricane Helene is more than a nightmare. Have you seen the devastation being reported? When Disaster Strikes, We the People step up to help.
It’s hard to imagine living in those conditions for over a week, let alone indefinitely. But let’s remember Americans are among the most generous people on the planet. Neighbors are the first responders in areas where help has yet to show up. It is reported that the federal government is finding civilian help to be an encumbrance to their disaster relief efforts. However, civilian aid is not just crucial; it is the backbone of relief efforts.
Is it now illegal in this country to “love your neighbor”? If you could offer life-saving help in areas with no passable roads and no electricity, should you be told to stand down while your neighbors suffer?
Let’s apply some common sense, as this website is educational and not political. We the People are the backbone of this country. We rejected monarchy almost 250 years ago. If We the People can save lives facing imminent danger, our inherent duty is to do so. It’s in our DNA to be courageous Americans, and it’s nearly impossible to suppress that spirit.
I have personally contributed air miles and money to recommended organizations for relief efforts. I urge you to consider praying for the survivors and their immediate aid. If you have the willingness and means, what help can you provide to our neighbors in this time of unimaginable suffering?
This is Common Sense Civics and Citizenship.🇺🇸
