Will our country survive? The mirror of citizenship is being held up to each one of us. What do you see looking back at you?
I’ve been pondering that question for days. Just so happens, the news is full of stories of secession, a new Union of States, and Americans “giving up on America.”
Hold up. Not so fast.
Before you contemplate giving up because one branch of government didn’t do what you thought it would, should, or could, remember the first three words of the US Constitution: We the People.
Before you blame half the country for blindly following a candidate or concluding that “the other side is evil,” remember the first three words of the US Constitution: We the People.
Before you decide to “throw in the towel” on the American form of government and seek to find another, remember the first three words of the US Constitution: We the People.
This is not America’s first rodeo with discord, division, delay, or disappointment. We have been there and done that enough time to know that tearing apart our nation’s fabric has long-lasting consequences. “But, but…,” you say. “Look at them!” The mirror of citizenship is being held up to each one of us. What do you see?
Nobody understands freedom like Americans, especially those who know our founding documents. We the People who know our founding documents, also know that they lay out the most extraordinary form of government ever. There are no artificial substitutes, no knock-off brands, no other place to go. Suppose you look in the mirror of citizenship, seeing yourself. In that case, you think, “Ahhh, this time I will be the one to get it right. I’ll form a new and better government,” then your history teacher deserves an “F.” Those of us fortunate enough to know some history and our founding documents can tell you about events that have been erased from the internet and the textbooks. We know. We saw these events. Before you write us off, you would do well to hear our stories- you know, the ones the press, professor, or some politicians won’t tell you. You might read our founding American documents before you pass “Go” and collect rent from your “opponent.”
Where do We the People go from here?
First, it was never about Russia. It has always been about China. This knowledge requires us to be united, not divided, now that we know. Be informed about China, who they are, their government system, and how they treat their people. Ask yourself if you want this type of trading partner and governance for yourself and your family.
Next, decide that regardless of who is in the White House, you will fully invest in freedom, American style. That is, you assume responsibility and accountability for your actions. You will not blame others. There’s no time for that. You will work harder, smarter, and longer than any opposition to learn and defend the American form of government. You are now all “in it to win it” rather than waiting for someone else to do it for you. That’s the attitude of those who came before us and kept the fires of America lit.
Perhaps you can add your suggestions in the comments about how to keep America, America.
We have everything to gain and nothing to lose.
“Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just, and this be our motto: “In God is our trust.” What is the very next line in this last stanza of our national anthem?
This is Common Sense Civics and Citizenship.??
