“As long as we stand united under the American flag, there is no challenge we cannot overcome. It is a symbol of our resilience and strength.”

Flags for organizations have become a big deal in the past few years. Remember when our flag was respected, even revered above all others? Below is a Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) website that helps us “brush up” on United States flag etiquette. It’s divided into short, orderly segments according to your interest, just in time for Flag Day.
Personal Reflections
What images or memories do you consider when thinking about our flag? My two favorites are the statue of the soldiers at Iwo Jima planting Old Glory and the Stars and Stripes that flew over Fort McHenry when we won the War of 1812. My best memories are marching as a child and a teen in patriotic day parades and marching around the house with my two little homeschooled girls (my son hadn’t been born yet).
Inspire Others
Although June 14 is our official Flag Day, why not fly Old Glory from now through Independence Day? It’s a symbol that Americans have in common. Who knows? You might inspire your neighbors or your kids’ friends to fly the Stars and Stripes.
What image or memory comes to mind when you think of Old Glory? Please share your own memories or experiences with our American flag in the comments below.
