What is the Declaration of Independence Reaffirmation Act of 2026?
The Senate unanimously passed the Declaration of Independence Reaffirmation Act of 2026 (S. 4828), which reaffirms the Declaration of Independence as an Organic Law of the United States.
The exact wording of the Declaration is included in the bill to ensure its preservation. However, the House will need to pass the exact same bill. Then, it must be signed by the President before it becomes law.
Why Reaffirm the Declaration of Independence Now?
This bill seeks to make the principles in the Declaration, such as natural rights, government by consent, and “all men are created equal,” foundational to U.S. law.
In an era when there is little teaching about American values that have been part of our culture since the Founding, it is essential that our nation renew its commitment to these values and principles.

As a citizen, support reaffirmation of the principles outlined in the Declaration of Independence. Read the Declaration again. Contact your congressman and let them know you support legislation that reaffirms the principles stated in the Declaration of Independence. Fly your American flag, not just on American holidays, but often. Speak about your belief in America’s right to life, liberty, and private property ownership. Tell your family’s story of how or why your ancestors came to this country.
