Labor Day– a time to celebrate the fruits of your hard work.
How will you be celebrating Labor Day? Hats off to all of you who work or give your support to those who do.
I looked at a list of occupations and began thinking about the people who make my life easy. Take, for example, the waste management employees who show up faithfully at 5:30 a.m. every Monday morning. They win the prize! Then there are the guys who mow my lawn (I mowed it myself for years, but allergies got to me). What about those who climb utility poles after a storm? They’re awesome! How about the ever-efficient girls and guys at the checkout counter? (I am a total loss when it comes to self-checkout. I mean, how hard can it be? Never fails. I need an attendant, Every. Single. Time). Oh, and an excellent customer service rep can make or mess up my day. Can you relate?
Our productivity benefits the nation. Our work strengthens the nation and contributes to our country’s prosperity and well-being. Our work matters. It impacts our own lives, our family, our community, and the nation. Now, that’s something to think about as we celebrate summer’s end, the beginning of fall, sweater weather, and our contribution as an employee, employer, or business owner.
You work hard for the money. Now it’s time to pause and celebrate your achievement. Hard work and celebration-they’re very much a part of Labor Day. Enjoy!
