How do you want to be governed? Today we are seeing people elected or running for elected office who profess communism. A Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) leader said a few weeks ago that the goal of the DSA is communism. Note: socialism, democratic socialism, and various pseudonyms are sellable versions of the same endgame- communism. Notice the campaign promises versus how these people govern once elected.
Government Food Programs: What’s the Real Cost?
“We will give you free food, free housing, free transportation!” Free food is government food. If you live in the north, you eat differently than in the south. Eventually, the government runs out of other people’s money to give you specialized food. You will get what you get and stand in lines to get it. Public Housing: Uniformity Over Individuality
Free housing is apartment housing. It is not single-family dwellings. Picture this: All apartment buildings are the same color. (I saw the remnants of government housing before Slovenia won independence). There is no room for originality. Everyone is the same so that no one has anything better than you. The construction is the same. No originality is depressing after a while.
A Russian woman told me that in more recent years, government housing had some single-family dwellings. The homes were small, close together, with thin walls. I cannot repeat her description of hearing everything every neighbor was doing.
Free Transportation and Its Hidden Limits
Free transportation is bus transportation. Nothing wrong with that. However, if you work an hour away and take a car, that job will no longer exist for you. You must live and work along government bus routes. Do your relatives live in another city? If the government bus doesn’t go there, you cannot visit your relatives. It’s a far cry from the 1949 commercial jingle “See the USA in your Chevrolet,” which was made popular and possible.
Choosing Leaders: Researching Political Promises Wisely
Now is the time to start listening to and reading a variety of sources to see what candidates are promising, and looking up their track record of leadership. Choose one at a time that catches your interest and study up on that candidate, their affiliations, family background, work history, etc. before you vote them into office. Remember: You are the employer.
