What about the discipline and character of Americans who assassinate or attempt to assassinate high-profile people? It’s a citizenship issue, so let’s examine it together.
The first thing I notice, and maybe you do, too, is how much attention these murderers or attempted murderers get. The false, yet often repeated, saying, “negative attention is better than no attention at all,” seems to apply here. How much attention do we pay to their story without examining our own behaviors, grievances, and anger at circumstances beyond our control? Wouldn’t examining your own thoughts and behaviors be a better choice than consuming the same media coverage of these deranged people on repeat?
Psychological Traits of High‑Profile Assailants
Next, I researched the psychological traits of assassins and wannabe assassins of high-profile people. Here are a few:
Loners-They have little support and a lot of unhealthy coping skills.
Deep-seated grievance holders-They obsess over high-profile people who have the power they don’t have and want to end their life because of it.
High intelligence- They use their brain power to spend inordinate amounts of time making a plan to destroy the object of their hatred.
Obsessive behaviors- They are meticulous people who spin mental fantasies of violence, fed by media and other forms of non-human contact.
From Grievance to Healing: Choosing Civic Responsibility
Consider how many Americans spend their time fueling obsessions with high-profile people, wishing harm on the object of their grievances. Are you engaging in self-reflection, or fueling these unhealthy obsessions?
Truth always shines through deception. Are you being deceived? Who or what is funneling your perceived grievances? Healing begins in the mind. How do you want to spend your one and only life? Do you want to be alone, listening to mental imaginations, and spending your life immersed in swirling thoughts of revenge?
America, that’s no way to live. Maybe that’s something we all can agree on. Now is the time to change how we think. Consider it, if you will, as your civic responsibility!
